  • Identify how their views of writing have changed as a result of the work they have done in the course

  • Explain what you have learned from being a novice in new writing situations, and describe how these experiences, which might include failure, contribute to your willingness to accept new challenges as a writer.

Warm Up

For the first 10 minutes of class, you will work on addressing Prompt 1. Open a new document in your Engagement and Learning folder called "History Exam 1 Practice" and begin attempting to answer Essay Prompt 1 from your history study guide. 

 

Reading Discussion

Since last class you should have read NWWK Threshold Concept 1.2 and NWWK Threshold Concept 2.2.

Group 1: NWWK 1.2, First two paragraphs

Group 2: NWWK 1.2, Last two paragraphs

Group 3: NWWK 2.2, First two paragraphs

Group 4: NWWK 2.2, Second two paragraphs

Group 5: NWWK 2.2, Last two paragraphs

Group 6: ​Authority is Constructed and Contextual: relate the knowledge practices & dispositions to how you can approach your history exam.

 

Each group needs to discuss the importance of their assigned sections. Pick at least one quote to discuss with the class. Add group notes to the Google running document (kept by your scribe)

Continuing Portfolio Practice 2

For this Portfolio practice, please use writing to complete the following steps on your own. Before you begin, we will discuss the Process together and look at an example.

​

If you have finished your Portfolio Practice:

Create a document in your Discovery Log folder and compile a list of the research questions you have explored in your discovery logs so far. Start thinking about a new research question based on what you have learned that might guide your research for the rest of the semester.

Homework

Study for your History Exam!

Make sure your Class Folder contains all work you are responsible for having completed thus far!

History Exam 1 on Wednesday!! (Yes, you have class afterwards!)

Discovery Log 5 - due 9/30

Reading Response 5 over Week 5 readings is due Sunday, 9/30
