  • Identify how their views of writing have changed as a result of the work they have done in the course

  • Explain what you have learned from being a novice in new writing situations, and describe how these experiences, which might include failure, contribute to your willingness to accept new challenges as a writer.

Warm Up

Think about the first five Threshold Concepts we have covered in class (1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0). Which one is the easiest for you to understand? Which one is the most troublesome? Relate an experience from the past three weeks of classes (any of your classes) to one of the Threshold Concepts. Then, relate one of the Threshold Concepts to one of the primary source documents you've read in Dr. Wooster's History Class

 

Reading Discussion

Since last class you should have read NWWK Threshold Concept 1.1 (Writing is a Knowledge-Making Activity) and NWWK Threshold Concept 1.5 (Writing Mediates Activity). We'll also discuss GENRE in the WILD.

Group 1: The Genre Does Not Stand Alone - GENRE in the WILD

Group 2: How Do People Learn The Genres in a Particular Setting & So Am I Just a Robot? - GENRE in the WILD

Group 3: NWWK 1.1, First two paragraphs

Group 4: NWWK 1.1, Last two paragraphs

Group 5: NWWK 1.5, First three paragraphs

Group 6: ​NWWK 1.5, Last three paragraphs

 

Each group needs to discuss the importance of their assigned sections. Pick at least one quote to discuss with the class. Add group notes to the Google running document (kept by your scribe)
